September 2007 - Famous Actor Finds His Westport, County Mayo Family Roots


BRITISH actor, John Hurt traces his roots to Westport in a BBC celebrity show which will be broadcast in September.


Westport House is the venue for the episode of
‘Who Do You Think You Are’ which helps celebrities uncover their family roots. Assisted by Mayo-born author, Anne Chambers, the show will be broadcast in September.


Over the course of the show, viewers will see Oscar nominated and BAFTA award winning actor, John Hurt and his older brother, Michael, unravel the family secret which connected his great-grandmother to the Browne family of Westport House.
